ughhhhh i need more aus where steve and tony pass each other at the train station or something and make eye contact for like, a solid 20 seconds but before either of them can say anything, a swarm of people from the rush-hour train come rushing pass them 

and that’s the last that either of them see of each other before tony’s walking down the street months later when he sees a sign for an art gallery and he’s barely interested in art, like the only reason he has a collection is because of pepper, but he feels compelled to go inside anyway

and he’s walking around and thinks, “hey, these pieces are actually pretty nice” but then he gets approached by someone who asks, “aren’t you the guy in the painting?” and tony asks what they’re talking about, so this person leads him towards the back of the room where there’s a bunch of people congregating around this painting and tony makes his way toward the front and when he looks at it, he sees it’s him 

the painting is of him standing on the train platform wearing his favorite charcoal gray suit, and tony realizes this “steve rogers” person has got to be that guy he saw at the station earlier that year–the guy with the bluest eyes tony’s ever seen, the guy that tony hasn’t been able to stop thinking about for months 

and when he turns away from the painting so he can call pepper and tell her about this new painting he wants to buy, but he doesn’t even get the chance to take out his phone because steve is standing there with an equally shocked expression on his face, and tony breaks the long stretch of silence between them by asking steve if he paints nudes, and the both of them just crack up laughing and then get coffee after the show and live happily ever after
